Fairmitre Tilt & Turn

The made to measure Tilt & Turn Window has been a popular choice with our continental neighbours for many years, indeed, its success may be described as formidable. The advantages of the Tilt & Turn - ease of cleaning, ventilation, single handed operation, and 24mm double glazing units, - over the conventional British window make it quite unique. It is, however only in recent years that these advantages have been fully realised in the U.K.

The window opens inwards to allow the easy cleaning but this is not always popular with those who like ornaments on their window sills

We have incorporated the same revolutionary features into the Fairmitre range of Tilt & Slide Patio Doors and French Doors.

Glazing Bars (Astragals)

If individual double glazed units are used, the glazing bars are wider than traditional in order to hide the hot-melt border around a double glazed unit.

If this concerns you, we also make a 'duplex' system where a single double glazed unit is used and narrow bars are fitted to the glass both outside and inside.

Traditional single glazing  bars are used where listed buildings demand.

BENEFITS OF THE FAIRMITRE TILT & TURN WINDOW:

  • The marginal frame clearance permits the use of extremely slim frame parts or flush solutions.
  • Fitting particularly appropriate for renovation and for windows on which the reveal depth does not allow any hinges.
  • Free choice of overhang profiles.
  • greater creative freedom, especially in historic buildings.
  • The old style of window profile can be retained even when using the most modern Fairmitre technology in wood.
  • The sash is easy to hinge, unhinge and adjust.
  • Despite the concealed installation, a rebate depth of only 20mm and a clearance of 11-12mm are sufficient due to the special design of the corner hinge, corner pivot rest and sash stay.
  • The double gaskets increase weather protection.
  • The tilt and turn mechanism offers the user ease of exit in an emergency and almost effortless facility for cleaning.
